God Is My Father
by
David Bigley
Father God, that's what You are to me,
Father of my spirit be.
Helping me to see Your face,
Revealing to me your merciful grace.
Father in Heaven, so tender and mild,
You realize I'm only, a fragile child.
You fill my life will all that I need,
Delivering me from hate, lust and greed.
Father, Your voice is so sweet and kind,
It doesn't sound a bit like mine.
When I get impatient, I oft' lose my cool,
It's not till much later, I feel like a fool.
Father, help me to learn the way You do,
You are so patient, so kind and so true.
Father, You show mercy to the good and the bad,
And when we show mercy, it must make Your heart glad.
Father, You've not rewarded me according to my sin,
You have offered me forgiveness, mercy, and to be my friend.
Father, what can I say in the light of such AWE inspiring love,
Except THANK YOU, O THANK YOU, for sending Christ from above.
